St. George Beach

This is and has always been the most popular beach in Naxos. The beach is usually calm since it is well protected from the northern winds. It has shallow, warm waters so it is widely preferred by families with young children because it offers a great degree of safety. It is very well organized with many umbrellas and sun-beds for rent.

One can spend an entire day at Saint George beach. The cafés on the beach open up early in the morning offering excellent and inexpensive, generous breakfast of great variety. The fantastic view of the entire bay and the relaxing music of the café will turn your breakfast into an experience rather than a meal.
After a long swim and a suntan there are many taverns on the beach offering meals for every taste. The sports club at the southern end of the beach will offer you a chance to practice your skills in windsurfing, catamaran sailing and other summer sports.

The beach is transformed at dusk. As the sun sets the umbrellas and sun-beds are removed. The colourful lights and the calmness of the scenery attract people who wish to spend a quiet evening in town. You will find the busier it gets during the day, the calmer it gets during the evening.
